I’ve been trying to get all of my dates confirmed before making my schedule announcement, but it just hasn’t been possible. I’m still working to secure some dates in the UK and in Alaska, but I wanted to at least let you know about three confirmed dates to get the ball rolling.

I’ll be teaching a workshop in April in Missoula, Montana. This should be fun because of the more urban setting than most of my workshops are used to. I’ll then move East a bit to teach in Manchester, Michigan in May. You can learn more about the site on which I’ll be teaching by clicking here. From there, I move South to Hico, Texas to work on a round sacred chamber. This is a cool opportunity because we’ll be building round and that’s not something most workshops are able to offer.
Click here for the individual workshop dates and to sign up. I'll have more dates and locations coming soon, so stayed tuned if the current dates and locations don't work for you.

Will you have any workshops in California this year? I hope so.

I’m glad to see you plan to do more workshops this year. Thank you. Any chance of you coming to Canada?

Charles is the host of the Texas workshop. Sounds pretty good already, eh? Looking forward to seeing you again Charles!

Eric and Janet,
I would love to have workshops in both California and Canada. I need to find hosts for those workshops. If you want to host or know someone who does, let me know. You (or they) can look at the Host a Workshop page on my website: http://www.StrawBaleWorkshops.com for more information on hosting.

Hi Andrew,
We are excited about the possibility of a strawbale school in Alaska — we are serious about strawbale — we just bought an old commercial stucco pump/sprayer and refurbed it and we intend to build several strawbale buildings on our land on the Kenai Peninsula. If possible, please communicate the school dates after you get your schedule nailed down. We may be sending as many as three participants, depending on the schedule dates.
Thanks,
Eric Treider

Excellent! We’re looking at August or September right now in Fairbanks. I will post more to the website as it comes in.

Since the “Nebraska-Style” home started in Nebraska, are there any plans to hold a workshop here? NE still has some straw bales buildings standing from the 1800′s. My husband and I would love to build straw bale! Have any tips for how to set up a build as a workshop?

Hi Diana. That would be cool huh? A Nebraska style workshop in Nebraska! Or even a post and beam workshop in Nebraska. I don’t currently have any hosts in Nebraska stepping up, but would be open to it if it happened. You can learn all about what it takes to host by clicking here: http://strawbaleworkshops.com/Host_a_Workshop.php. Let me know if you want to host. Dates are starting to get tight. I’m working on a UK workshop in July and a workshop in Alaska in August. I may also be setting one up in Illinois. That would leave only one week available if they all end up confirming.

Andrew,
Would you be interested in doing a second project in Alaska this year? We are quite some distance from Fairbanks and there are many people on the peninsula and Anchorage who might be interested in this workshop (we are actually closer to Anchorage than Fairbanks is). Also, the nearby community of Homer is kind of like a mini-Taos, New Mexico; many artisans, back-to-the-landers, ardent stewards of the earth. There’s a good chance we could fill a September class drawing on this group as well as everyone else interested in sound, inexpensive, earth-friendly housing.

Our proposed project would be situated about 14 miles north of Kenai on the Kenai Peninsula. Good silver salmon fishing during the fall!

Hi Eric. Sounds great to me, although I must say every salmon fishing trip I’ve ever been on here in Oregon, I stump the rest of the boat. No one catches a thing until I step off the boat or leave the shore. I guess I’m a friend to the fish at some energetic level. I am a Pieces after all!
I’m definitely interested in discussing this option. Take a look at the hosting page given in one of my responses above and let me know your thoughts.

Manchester MI great! I will be there.

Andrew,
Can you tell me what is entailed with hosting? I have four acres in Western Colorado that I am building on. I am hoping to build the garage this summer. I have a media company and would have a blast going through this process. I am researching like crazy right now and saving every penny that I have.

Hi Colleen. You can find out tons on the “Host a Workshop” page at http://www.StrawBaleWorkshops.com. If you don’t find the answers to your questions there, let me know and I’ll happily give you more details. I look forward to talking with you soon.

Hello Colleen, One thing Andrew will probably mention to you is that if you are planning/thinking of hosting a workshop you need to attend one first. I am so thankful that I attended the Grants workshop in prep for our work shop in Texas. It will save you time , money and sleepless nights!!! Howdy from Texas!!

Hi Andrew,
Love your website and videos. Very informative.
Do you plan to do any seminars in the UK or Ireland. Would love to get your opinion on the damp climate here and any extra precautions to combat the high moisture content in the air.
Regards

I hope to hold a workshop in the UK this summer. I’m working on a Scotland location right now. Cross your fingers! Let me know what you want to hear about specifically. There’s lots to discuss on moisture, and much of it is already on my website blog. Take a look (you can search at the top too) and then let me know what I can answer for you my friend!
