Below is a request for help from Ben Barneveld, the project developer for the Whole Earth Consortium, whose mission is to enrich the world through sustainable development and education.
The Whole Earth Consortium’s latest endeavor in line with their mission is to work with a local tribal government on the Fon-du-lac Indian reservation in Minnesota to build a straw bale structure to house the tribe’s cultural center and museum. The tribe has already agreed to a 1/3 match of all grant funds that can be raised.
If you know of an avenue for Ben to secure grants for such a project or if you would like to donate to or participate in this project, please respond to this post. I hope to hear from many of you soon.

Hi Ben, I hope this is not an avenue already exhausted but your tribe may have a culture program that you could ask to present your project to them. They can make a recommendation that you can contact a grant writer that works for the tribe. The grant writer as well as cultural specialist can help research possible grants to apply for. Hope this helps. Good Luck!

Hi Ben,
Go to http://www.grants.gov and the grant possibilities for your project would be under cultural / museum / native american, etc. Also, education grants. The tribal governments have an added advantage in grant funding opportunities. I have over 18 years of development/fundraising experience, including Duke University and 4-1/2 years as a rural county school and county grant writer / grants administrator in Virginia and am now a consultant. Good luck!
