Hello everyone. I’m putting out a call for photos of your straw bale homes. I am looking to get a large library of straw bale photos to help promote this beautiful technique. I recently went on to Facebeook and created a group called “Straw Bale Workshops” (http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=47715717755) that will be a gathering place for past, present and future workshop participants. In the process, I found some other straw bale groups and looked through their pages. Most have very unfortunate pictures of straw bale projects that do not represent how beautiful this type of construction really is. I want to show people how amazing these homes can be and the best way to do that is by gathering and sharing pictures from all over the world.
If you want to be a part of this, please send me pictures of your completed projects. I want the pictures to be of quality bale construction, not something thrown together on the weekend, so they speak highly of straw bale construction. Please make sure the files are relatively small, no larger than say 448 x 336 px. This will allow me to download them (I live in the country without a wicked fast internet connection). You can send your pictures to StrawBalePhotos@gmail.com.
I look forward to starting this library and sharing it with others.

I would be very cautious about posting anything on Facebook. By accepting the Facebook “terms of service” you are agreeing to give them full license of anything you add to their site.
“By posting User Content to any part of the Site, you automatically grant . . . to the Company an irrevocable, perpetual, non-exclusive, transferable, fully paid, worldwide license (with the right to sublicense) to use, copy, publicly perform, publicly display, reformat, translate, excerpt (in whole or in part) and distribute such User Content for any purpose, commercial, advertising, or otherwise, on or in connection with the Site or the promotion thereof, to prepare derivative works of, or incorporate into other works, such User Content, and to grant and authorize sublicenses of the foregoing.”

Thanks for writing that. I think it is indeed important for that type of language to be known; however, I am not terribly worried about the photos I will be posting as they are simply “home owner” photos. I don’t plan to try and hold any rights to the photos and I imagine that all people who send in pictures will feel the same. If my posting a picture of a straw bale house gets picked up and used, then that means more images are getting out there. I hope people agree that this is a good thing. In a commercial sense, you are right on. In a “let’s spread the word around” sense, I think we are okay. Thanks again.
