Straw Bale Residence
This large, high-end straw bale residence was built by our very own Andrew Morrison. This home is nothing short of magnificent! The combination of the warm, inviting colors with the soft, rounded walls inspires relaxation and harmony to those who enter. The owners (and their dog!) couldn't be happier with the end result.

Straw Bale Village Community Building
This small and elegant structure serves as the community gathering space for the residents of the Straw Bale Village. It was built by Andrew Morrison and designed by Chris Keefe of www.OrganicFormsDesign.com. The open floor plan and vaulted ceiling makes the most of this 800sq. ft. building. It has a small kitchen, bathroom, loft space and it's stamped concrete floor is heated by a radiant floor heating system. Right behind the building is the children's playground so that parents can watch their children at play while sitting comfortably in the Community Building.
Sunset Cottage
This quaint and welcoming cottage was built by Andrew Morrison and designed by Chris Keefe of www.OrganicFormsDesign.com. Plans for this cottage are available for purchase from our site as is the DVD series showing how to build it. It is an ideal first time structure to build as it is small (200 sq ft), does not require a building permit in most counties in the US, and is designed with the details that one would use in building a regular sized home. It is an ideal art studio, office space, guest cottage, workout/dance space. The Sunset Cottage offers a whole lot of charm and uses for such a small space!
Straw Bale Village Residence
This straw bale home was built by our very own Andrew Morrison and designed by Chris Keefe of www.OrganicFormsDesign.com. This structure is a "common wall" unit and houses two residences. On the other side of this home is the other two story unit. The residents couldn't be happier with the experience of living in a straw bale home and are proud of how low their utility bills are. Even though this part of Oregon sees over 95 degree days frequently in the summer, neither of these units has air conditioning, yet their interior temperature is a cool 68-72 degrees inside!
Wolf Gulch Farm
This large straw bale residence was custom built to home two sisters and their corresponding families. The house has two separate living wings and a large common/kitchen area in the middle. The four children living in the home have had an incredible childhood growing up on this community supported farm; running from wing to wing playing, harvesting fresh strawberries, swimming in the pond, and generally living the good ol' farming life. This home is the center hub of a close knit community and has hosted countless potlucks, gatherings, game nights, dance parties, and general merriment. This home lives and breathes love and community.
Kennedy Residence
The Kennedy family built this amazing home from the ground up with the help of a close friend. They had never built a home before, but with perseverance and time, the project was completed! They have incredible sense of pride seeing what they were able to accomplish. We are trully inspired by this couple and for what they have created. By the way, they were our very first customers!
Ashland, OR Wilderness Charter School
This sweet straw bale structure is home to the Ashland, OR Wilderness Charter School. This program has become very successful through the commitment of the Ashland community to bring an eco-consciousness based education into the Rogue Valley. The program is open to high school students and is limited to one year to give as many young adults the opportunity to learn about our global and local environment.
Elk Creek Residence
This straw bale home, set in a remote wilderness area in southern Oregon, was put to the test in 2003 when a massive forest fire engulfed the dense forest surrounding the house. Fire fighters were amazed when flames engulfed the vegetation around the home but left the house intact. You can see the charred remains of the forest behind the residence. There was no damage to this structure. The owner invested a large amount of resources to revegetate the area around the home, but at least she didn't need to build a new home as well!
Hummingbird Studio
Hummingbird Studio is nestled in the gentle sloping mountains of the Little Applegate in southern Oregon. It was hand built with extreme love by two professional artists, Leslie Lee and Dennis Meiners. Hummingbird comes alive in the summer with several workshops taught by world-renowned artists that attract students from all over the country. What's more, one can have the delightful experience of waking up to Leslie's fabulous home cooked breakfast when you stay in their straw bale bed and breakfast! We highly recommend their B and B, as well as any of the workshops that they offer. You can find them online at www.hummingbirdsouthernoregon.com/
