Shawn has a background in commercial real estate and has a MS in Real Estate and Construction Management from the University of Denver.  He first heard about straw bale construction about 10 years ago, doing a lot of research and finally completing Andrew’s straw bale workshops in Brenham, TX (2016)  and Choctaw, OK (2017).  He is excited to bring this type of construction to Oklahoma and surrounding areas.

Jason Wikman attended Andrew’s 2012 Oroville, WA build workshop, his 2012 Denver, CO design workshop and 2015 La Grande, OR build workshop.  He is a secondary science teacher and is currently studying Sustainability at Harvard with a focus on Green Buildings and Community Sustainability working towards his PhD.  He is also working on his own off-grid zero-net-energy home project in NE Washington State.

Chuck ReelChuck Reel has been employed in the solar field since the 1970′s and has taught solar courses at El Paso Community College as well is still teaching the Green Home Design course at Adams State University in Alamosa, CO for the last 5 years. Chuck has designed, drafted and built 2 passive solar straw bale homes in the San Luis Valley of Colorado for clients. One was featured in Back Home magazine. He can design passive solar homes, draft them, lays the straw bale walls, builds real adobe block walls, does interior earth plaster walls, uses all natural non-toxic materials, lays cork and tile floors, does solar and wind electric systems and coordinates subcontractors to get the home completed. Jason has 15 years working as a professional artist / engineer, sculpting and building themed set works, public art and large-scale LED light installations. He can create computer models of your project if need be. He is not a licensed general contractor or an architect, but can work with yours, bring his own or act as one to plan, organize and/or install all of the special bale framing and utilities in and around the straw bale walls. He has the ability to add creative touches and sculptural formations beyond the ordinary.

She graduated from Harvard University as a special concentrator in Architecture and Urban Design (A.B. 2003) and received her Master of Architecture degree from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (M.Arch. 2006). She worked for Renzo Piano Building Workshop in Paris (2005) and Genoa (2007-2010) on projects with strong emphasis on environmental sustainability, designed to achieve a high LEED rating. As of February 2012 she is the Program director for EXPEDITIO Center for Sustainable Spatial Development in Belgrade. Nate TurnerNate Turner completed Andrew’s 2015 North Fork, Idaho straw bale workshop.  He has a background in wildlife biology and building construction and strives for sustainability in all aspects of life.  He is currently building a tiny house and hopes to continue building small, comfortable and sustainable dwellings by assisting owner builders. While not currently a licensed contractor, he is looking to get licensed and would be excited to take on a small straw bale projects or work as a carpenter/baler on all aspects of larger projects.
