It’s important to understand the glossary of terms for straw bale construction framing. If you don’t know what something is called, you’ll have a harder time ordering the right materials from your suppliers. In addition, if you don’t know the right terms, you’ll have a harder time discussing things with your contractors, even if you’re not the one building the home. It doesn’t take long to get a solid grasp on the terms, and it’s time well invested.

Of course not. It’s pretty simple actually. Because it’s all broken down into the individual names and details, you can see what goes where, what it’s called, and how it relates to the frame around it. Armed with that information, you’ll be able to discuss all the details with your suppliers and contractors with confidence.

You might have noticed that the glossary of terms for straw bale construction framing is pretty similar to conventional construction. In fact, it’s almost exactly the same. We have a few differences that are specific to straw bale construction, but they are few and far between, which means it’s that much easier to memorize the terminology. I know, not many people like the sound of memorizing names of wood framing, but it is a lot easier than you think and well worth the effort in the end.
