Just a quick reminder to those of you who have finished building about the importance of registering your straw bale home on the International Straw Bale Registry Project through www.GreenBuilder.com. This is a great resource for other people who are looking to build their own straw bale home.
I often contact people who have listed their homes on the registry to see if they are open to helping a “newcomer” find resources, builders, architects, and other resources for their own project. Sometimes, all it takes is for that newcomer to know that someone else has already blazed a trail which they can follow in the creation of their own home. Registering your straw bale home is a great way to inspire others.
Sometimes the hardest part of building a straw bale house is not the actual construction itself. Instead, it’s finding the right builder, architect, or supplies to make that straw bale dream a reality. A great way for people to find the resources they need is to talk to others who have already traveled a similar road. You might not be sure if you want lots of people contacting you, or perhaps you’re clear that you don’t want that all. No problem, you can still complete the process of registering your straw bale home and simply check the box that requests privacy. Just by adding your information to the registry, you can support others in their path.
Please take a few minutes to visit the site and register your home today!

Great! Straw bale houses are the houses of the future! Its good to know that there are people you can ask about it.
I tried the “register your house” link and it was dead. Maybe turn the registry over to someeone else (like CASBA?).
Thde registry could be very useful for supoorting efforts to make it easier to find financing and insurance.
I have a new home to register.
Hi Jed, we agree that the registry is a useful resource! The registry itself is managed by another organization at https://strawbaleregistry.org/ and at the time of this comment seems to be offline. We hope it returns as a valuable means to connect straw bale home owners and more.
