    Hi,
I was looking to build a new straw bale house and wanted to see some existing houses.
Could you send me some more pictures please and also how far is it from Ottawa for a viewing?

    * how old is the house?
    * what is the maintenance costs involved?

    Regards
    John

Hi John. There are a lot of bale houses out there, so I’m not sure what photos to share. There is a photo gallery on the website, and that would be the best place to start. In terms of locations and ages, they vary a lot on the photos in the photo gallery. Some houses are 25+ years old while others are around 10 or less. Regarding maintenance costs, that’s hard to say as costs vary across the world. What I can say is that a well built bale house has very few maintenance requirements, and nothing special above and beyond a conventional home. If there are issues with the walls, the costs can be high, but that’s why we focus so hard on creating well designed and well built bale homes as professionals in the straw bale community. The details, both in the design and the execution of that design, really matter. Cheers!
