The Power of Education – A 15 Question Test

It may sound obvious, but learning how to build a house, of any kind but especially a straw bale house, is a good thing to do before you actually start building. Ask yourself the following 15 questions and if you cannot answer them with a high level of confidence, you would be best served to gain some more experience before you start building.

Incredible Piece of Heaven For Sale

This incredible piece of property is where I used to live and where I raised my kids for 11 years. It is one of the most incredible pieces of land I know of. I am sad to see it go; however, I understand that it is too much for one person (my mother-in-law) to manage on her own. It is time for the next adventure for her and so the land must find a new partner to inspire. Maybe it will be you.

Straw Bale Construction, Health, and Real Life

I am not one who lives from a place of fear or who likes to offer it as a motivation to others. Personally, I think that is a poor way to live a life or achieve a goal. In fact, my wife has a hand written reminder above her desk that reads “a life motivated by fear is a shadow.” So I’m not going to focus on how bad things are. Instead, I’m hopefully going to inspire you to be part of the solution. My question for you is: can you find connections to “real life?” I know that we all want to live the life of our dreams. The problem is that some of us have blockages that get in the way. I hope you will read more and join the conversation in the comments section.

2012: A Year in Review

Gabriella and I are so grateful for all of you who support what we do. We often sit with each other and reflect on our lives and the support we receive from you, our readers, is always a major player in our conversations. Without you, so much would be different in our lives and we sincerely thank you with all of our hearts. I hope you will join this year end conversation by sharing some things that went really well for you in 2012. There is often a desire to look back at what did and did not work out well for us. I would suggest that we skip the “what didn’t work” aspect of things and focus on the positives of 2012. We all know exactly what didn’t work for us, so there is no reason, in my opinion, to perpetuate the story of those hiccups. So please, share with us one or two of your favorite things from 2012.

December 21, 2012…A New Beginning

Here’s a different look at today, as many want to call it the end of the world. I believe it closer to a beginning than an end. I received the following text from my sister in a forwarded email. I hope that you find some resonance with it. I particularly like the areas that I have placed in bold. I also love the message from the Hopi Elder that is at the end of this blog entry. I have heard this spoken for years and it has always touched a deep part of my soul. That part that wants to let go by finds reasons within fear not to. I have been learning to let go these many years, and I continue to learn each day. I wish you all a wonderful day and that you find peace within yourselves and with those people around you.

Love Those Around You…Always

Please, find a way to love those whom you might otherwise not offer such emotion to. First find peace within yourself and for yourself and then share that with others. Forgive yourself for mistakes you have made and forgive those who have affected you with their mistakes. Forgiveness and love is all that we have to brighten this world and it is all that we need.
