Plumbing Details in Straw Bale Construction

You have likely heard me say this before, but it is worth saying again: keep your plumbing out of your bales. Of course, it’s not as simple as that when it comes to adding plumbing to a straw bale house. There are obviously more details to consider in order to ensure that the straw bale walls are not damaged by water infiltration. The good news is that there are a limited number of locations to consider in terms of potential water damage from plumbing in a straw bale home so managing the installation is easier than you may think. In this article, we will look at the major areas of concern and I’ll show you my preferred solution for each location.

Incredible Piece of Heaven For Sale

This incredible piece of property is where I used to live and where I raised my kids for 11 years. It is one of the most incredible pieces of land I know of. I am sad to see it go; however, I understand that it is too much for one person (my mother-in-law) to manage on her own. It is time for the next adventure for her and so the land must find a new partner to inspire. Maybe it will be you.

Straw Bale Construction, Health, and Real Life

I am not one who lives from a place of fear or who likes to offer it as a motivation to others. Personally, I think that is a poor way to live a life or achieve a goal. In fact, my wife has a hand written reminder above her desk that reads “a life motivated by fear is a shadow.” So I’m not going to focus on how bad things are. Instead, I’m hopefully going to inspire you to be part of the solution. My question for you is: can you find connections to “real life?” I know that we all want to live the life of our dreams. The problem is that some of us have blockages that get in the way. I hope you will read more and join the conversation in the comments section.

2012: A Year in Review

Gabriella and I are so grateful for all of you who support what we do. We often sit with each other and reflect on our lives and the support we receive from you, our readers, is always a major player in our conversations. Without you, so much would be different in our lives and we sincerely thank you with all of our hearts. I hope you will join this year end conversation by sharing some things that went really well for you in 2012. There is often a desire to look back at what did and did not work out well for us. I would suggest that we skip the “what didn’t work” aspect of things and focus on the positives of 2012. We all know exactly what didn’t work for us, so there is no reason, in my opinion, to perpetuate the story of those hiccups. So please, share with us one or two of your favorite things from 2012.
