Hi. I’m going to be building a straw bale house in a hot part of Australia. I just wanted to let you know I really appreciate the resource you’ve built here! You’ve basically answered all of the questions I’ve had that were not answered in any of the books I’ve found to read. Thanks a lot!

You’re welcome Sarah. As mentioned in the other comment I just replied to, the jumbo bales may be a good option for you as they are readily available in much of Australia.

Andrew, hope you are still out there building strawbale houses. We recently purchased a straw built house on The upper Applegate. Falling in . Love with it. Only problem we have so far is insurance. Can you share some of your wisdom with us. Linda Linman

Insurance is such a weird one as so many companies are fine with straw bale in one part of the country and not in others. It’s random and hard to navigate. I would suggest Allstate, Geico, AAA, Llyods of London, State Farm, or Country Companies. Hopefully you can find success with one of those. Good luck!
