Straw Bale Home for Sale on 80 Acres in Arizona

Snowflake Area, Concho, Arizona

Wake to quiet.

Step outside into juniper dotted high desert. Wide sky. Open land. No nearby traffic. No crowding. Just 80 acres that stretch in every direction.

This straw bale home was owner-built in 1994 to 1995 by Vincent and Stephanie. They were not building a statement piece. They were building a family home. A place to raise their daughters, host friends, and live close to the land.

Over time, it became known as a welcoming place.

The Experience of Living There

The heart of the home is a 39-by-39-foot octagon great room. Open, light-filled, and grounded by a picture rock sandstone floor, it naturally draws people together. Shared meals. Holiday gatherings. Long conversations. Music played together.

Guests often remarked on how comfortable the space felt and how well sound carried without echo. The thick straw bale walls soften the room and help maintain an even temperature.

Deep window sills catch afternoon light. There is room to sit, read, display plants, or simply look out across the land. Parking is generous, making it easy to host without complication.

Evenings often ended with walks across the property. The setting feels peaceful, safe, and spacious. You can hear the wind through the trees and feel distance from the pace of town life.

The home

Interior partitions are constructed with conventional 2x4 framing and drywall. The master suite is stick-built. Two additional bedrooms and one bath have straw bale exterior walls.

Flooring includes picture rock, sandstone through the main living areas, LVT in bedrooms, and tile in the master bath and laundry.

The home was built to code by the owner-builder with assistance from professional tradesmen and later passed inspection for a home equity loan without issue.
